Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee shall mainly be responsible for the following:

• planning, developing, coordinating and delivering courses (including face-to-face and distance learning modes) in related disciplines at the undergraduate, taught and research postgraduate levels;
• undertaking/engaging in programme administration/development and scholarly activities; and
• participating in School/University activities and administration.

 
Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

• an earned doctoral degree in applied English linguistics or a related discipline with relevant teaching experience in post-secondary/tertiary education, preferably in the areas of second language acquisition and systemic functional grammar, and with experience including curriculum and programme development;
• relevant teaching qualification and experience in the Hong Kong education system, the English Language curriculum in local schools, as well as a teaching qualification are preferred;
• a record of research and peer-reviewed publications, involvement in professional and community services & activities; and
• a good command of written and spoken English.

 
Terms and Conditions for Appointment

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, a composite cash/housing allowance, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.  Generous annual leave, staff-development sponsorships, medical and dental benefits, and life insurance coverage will also be provided.
