The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is one of the world’s leading institutions of Higher Education and provides exceptional research, teaching and living environments in one of the world’s greatest cities. The Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering (BEEE) contributes to PolyU’s world ranking of 16th in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2023 subject rankings of Architecture and Built Environment and also 22nd in the QS 2023 subject rankings of Civil and Structural Engineering.  BEEE is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Construction and Environment, and offers a full range of programmes leading to the awards of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Engineering, Master of Science and Bachelor of Engineering. Currently there are 35 research staff and 121 research students (118 studying for PhD), over 600 full-time / part-time Master’s students, an undergraduate student body of over 250 full-time students.  BEEE currently has 40 full-time academic / teaching staff members engaging in a wide range of research activities organized in the following three themes:
 
Building Energy: Energy issues in buildings addressed in the context of both demand and supply to promote sustainable built environments.
 
Building Environment: Optimisation of buildings and built environments for thermal comfort, indoor air quality, visual / spatial and vibration / acoustic aspects to improve occupant health and productivity.
 
Building Safety and Resilience: Protection of building occupants from hazards such as fire and lightning to improve safety and resilience of communities, buildings and the built environments.

Duties
 
The appointees will be required to:
 
(a) teach subjects in Building Environment / Building Energy / Facility Management and Law / Sustainability and the Built Environment / Data Science at  degree or master’s degree levels; and
 
(b) conduct assessments for those subjects taught.
 
Qualifications
 
Applicants should have:
 
(a) a PhD degree in a related discipline OR a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in a related discipline, with at least three years’ post-qualification teaching / research / practical and/or industrial experience; and
 
(b) a professional qualification in a recognised and relevant professional body.
 
Remuneration
 
The remuneration rate is from HK$900 to HK$1,500 per hour.
