COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

Founded by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) oversees the operations of the Hong Kong Community College which offers quality sub-degree programmes for secondary school leavers and the School of Professional Education and Executive Development which offers professionally oriented academic award programmes for persons at various stages of their career, including top-up degree awards for associate degree and higher diploma graduates. There are four Academic Divisions in CPCE, namely Division of Business and Hospitality Management, Division of Languages and Communication, Division of Science, Engineering and Health Studies and Division of Social Sciences, Humanities and Design.

Division of Languages and Communication

Principal Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Bilingual Studies and Communication / Chinese / English (Ref. 230609-03)

Duties

The appointee will (a) engage in teaching and other teaching related activities; (b) provide academic leadership in discipline-based and/or pedagogical research; (c) take a leading role in the quality assurance, administration, development and promotion of programmes; (d) assist the Division Head in various delegated Divisional matters, and (e) perform any other duties as assigned.

The appointee may station at different campuses, and be required to take up assignments and work outside Hong Kong occasionally.

Qualifications

Applicants should normally have (a) excellent academic qualification at a doctoral level; (b) substantial years of experience with extensive and successful records in teaching, research/scholarship, academic administration, and/or industrial experience in the related disciplines; (c) active engagement in professional and scholarly activities; (d) proficiency in English and/or Chinese (as called for by the discipline areas concerned), and (e) good communication skills.

For the discipline areas of Bilingual Studies and Communication / Chinese, applicants should have proficiency in Cantonese and proficiency in Putonghua is preferred.

Applicants with less experience will be considered for the post of Senior Lecturer.

Conditions of Service

An attractive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be made on a two-year contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
