We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:

Laboratory Officer (S&T) (Ref: 25000J3)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

• Preparing the necessary materials and equipment for setting up laboratory class;
• Handling daily operations of laboratories;
• Demonstrating laboratory experiments and providing analytical instrument training to students and laboratory users;
• Assisting in setting up a new laboratory/facilities for teaching and research purpose;
• Assisting in handling of license, purchasing orders and inventory for updating, renewal and maintaining the facilities in the laboratories;
• Providing technical support to academic staff and students;
• Ensuring the safety and security related issues in the laboratories; and
• Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science or a related discipline;
• Experience in operating and performing maintenance for instruments would be an advantage;
• Detail-oriented, hardworking, responsible, able to meet deadlines and work independently; and
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.

Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.
