The French International School of Hong Kong is a rapidly growing Educational organization with 4 sites and more than 2,700 students and more than 300 staff. We manage more than 1,500 devices, including PCs, Chromebooks and iPads, across 4 different networks.
We are looking for a Database Administrator to join our team and work in our Blue Pool Road Campus. Candidate will be required to go on the other campuses from time to time.
As a Senior Database Administrator, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the system migration from Engage to Eduka, our new educational management platform. Your expertise in SQL database management, query development, API integration, web application development in C# or PHP, and PowerBI will be essential in ensuring a smooth and successful transition.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. System Migration:
- Assist in the migration process and data mapping from Engage to Eduka
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the system transition
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and IT staff
2. SQL Database Management:
- Analyse, design, develop, and maintain SQL databases and queries, ensuring optimal performance
3. API Integration:
- Integrate APIs and develop scripts to facilitate data exchange between Engage and Eduka
4. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Utilize PowerBI or similar tools to analyze and visualize data
- Generate reports and dashboards to communicate progress and key metrics to stakeholders
5. System Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough testing of the Eduka platform to ensure data accuracy and functionality
- Identify and report any bugs or issues encountered during the migration process
6. Report Project Status
- Report critical incidents to the Senior IT Manager, as needed
Desired Skills
- Self-starter, willing to take the initiative
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with strong problem-solving skills
- Strong proficiency in SQL database management, query development, and optimization
- Soild understanding of data analysis concepts and methodologies
- Proificiency in data visualization tools such as PowerBI or similar platforms
- Experience with API integration and working with external systems
- Experience with web applications
- Experience in educational management systems, particularly Engage and Eduka, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge in French and/or Cantonese is a plus
Qualification
- Certificate or Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training or work experience.
- Proven with 2 years’ experience as a programmer, developer or similar role, preferably with experience in database and system migration projects
- Candidate with less experience may be considered for the role of Programmer Analyst
