We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Public Affairs Office:
Assistant Public Affairs Manager (PAO) (Ref:25000N8)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs or his/her nominee(s), the appointee will be responsible for supporting the Public Affairs Office and its Public Relations (PR) Team in the following key duties:
- Developing internal and external communications materials, including press releases, campus stories, research stories, student achievement stories, social media posts, speeches, column articles, advertorials and presentations for management team, ensuring content accuracy and aligning with the University’s mission, vision and strategic goals;
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with the media and stakeholders to enhance the University’s publicity;
- Proactively identify media opportunities and pitch stories to relevant outlets;
- Preparing lines-to-takes for media enquiries;
- Media monitoring and tracking media coverage to assess the University’s public perception and identify opportunities for improvement;
- Managing, updating and maintaining the University’s website to enhance the University image;
- Planning and managing media events, and supporting University-level University, and key events organised by schools/departments/other offices to maximize publicity for the University, including media marshaling and logistics coordination;
- Handling general enquiries/complaints and liaising with internal and external parties; and
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Affairs or his/her nominee.
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
- A recognised degree with at least 5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience;
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (proficiency in Putonghua is an added advantage);
- Strong media sense with understanding of the media landscape and daily operations;
- Proficiency in social media and web technologies is a definite advantage;
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated with analytical mind, a strong sense of responsibility and a can-do spirit;
- A good team player with good interpersonal and organisational skills;
- Well-organised with strong multi-tasking and time management skills;
- Ability to manage projects independently and work under pressure and tight deadlines; and
- Flexible and willing to work outside office hours when required.
