Position Summary

The successful applicant will teach Chinese Language related courses and General Education Courses. He/She should have experience in teaching Chinese to both Chinese Speakers and Non-Chinese Speakers, and preparing students for taking various national Chinese proficiency tests, e.g. PSC, HSC, COPA.

The appointee is expected to engage in active scholarly activities and other tasks as appropriate.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Assistant Professor Rank

1. A relevant Doctoral degree in Chinese Language / Chinese Language and Literature / Language Studies (Chinese) / Chinese Linguistics / Education (Chinese) or other relevant discipline;
2. Teaching experience in higher education or substantial industrial experience; and
3. Research experience with a record of publications.
4. Experience as an Early Childhood practitioner or leader is advantageous.

Senior Lecturer Rank

1. A relevant Doctoral degree in Chinese Language / Chinese Language and Literature / Language Studies (Chinese) / Chinese Linguistics / Education (Chinese) or other relevant discipline or comparable professional qualifications;
2. At least 5 years’ full-time teaching, curriculum design and development experience at post-secondary level;
3. Substantial programme or relevant academic management experience; and
4. Active participation in scholarly and research activities.
5. Experience as an Early Childhood practitioner or leader is advantageous.

Lecturer Rank

1. A Master’s degree in in Chinese Language / Chinese Language and Literature / Language Studies (Chinese) / Chinese Linguistics / Education (Chinese) or other relevant discipline;
2. At least 3 years’ full-time teaching, curriculum design and development experience at post-secondary level; and
3. Active participation in scholarly activities.
4. Experience as an Early Childhood practitioner or leader is advantageous.

In addition,

1. Grade A Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) - Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission on Language Work; or
2. A pass in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA), or equivalent is an added advantage.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:

Remuneration is competetive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The College offers Mandatory Provident Fund to eligible appointee(s).
