The External Relations Department of the Corporate Affairs Division is responsible for publicising and explaining the Securities and Futures Commission’s vision, values, priorities and actions to the general public, stakeholder relations; providing editorial support for corporate and technical publications in English and Chinese; as well as handling public enquiries and complaints.

The External Relations Department is seeking an experienced translator to translate various kinds of documents, such as consultation papers, correspondence with other financial regulators and regulatees, supporting evidence for prosecution and disciplinary action, and submissions to the Legislative Council, from English to Chinese and vice versa. Handling translation of corporate publications, such as press releases, the SFC’s annual and quarterly reports, is also required periodically.

To be successful in this post, you should have a university degree, preferably in translation or language studies, and at least five years of solid experience specific to the translation of a variety of legal and financial documents, including those that are used in court proceedings or for the performance of regulatory functions. Good understanding of the Hong Kong securities and futures markets and various financial products, and previous employment with the Hong Kong Government or a regulatory body will be a definite advantage.

You should be meticulous, organised and a good team player with strong communication skills. You must have an excellent command of English and Chinese, and be proficient in common PC applications and Chinese word processing. The successful candidate is expected to be able to learn and master the necessary skills within a short timeframe, and work under pressure professionally and efficiently.
