We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:

Major Duties and Responsibilities 
The appointee will mainly assist the research team in one or more of the following research projects in the field of Marine Biology and Environmental Science:

• Modulation of Ichthyotoxicity of Karenia mikimotoi by Two Associated Alteromonas oceani Isolates (R2 and Y8) and Algalbacterial Molecular Interaction Under Effects of Different Biotic and Abiotic Factors (R6499);
• Mechanism Underlying Algicidal Activity of P4, a Novel Bacterium Isolated from an Algal Bloom in Hong Kong, against Ichthyotoxic Dinoflagellate (R6366);
• Community Structure and Metaproteomics of Microorganism Assemblages Collected from Pneumatophores of Avicennia marina in Mangrove Ecosystem (R6428);
• Strengthen the Capability and Capacity for Cutting-edge Coastal Wetland Research (R7024).

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

• Conducting various experiments in the science laboratory and field sites;
• Conducting analysis on samples collected from field sites;
• Conducting routine microorganism isolation and cell culturing;
• Providing support in literature review and data analysis;
• Working with the Principal Investigator / supervisors to prepare report writing; and
• Conducting other research activities as instructed by the Principal Investigator.

Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

• A doctoral degree in Environmental Science / Chemistry / Molecular Biology / Biochemistry / Microbiology or a related discipline discipline with a track record of research and publication (for Temporary Research Associate);
• A Master’s degree or above in the above mentioned discipline (for Temporary Research Assistant I);
• A Bachelor’s degree or above in the above mentioned discipline (for Temporary Research Assistant II);
• Research experience in omics / cell biology / environmental monitoring is preferred;
• Strong sense of responsibility, effective organizational and interpersonal skills;
• Very good command of English and Chinese; and
• Preference will be given to those with technical experiences in mass spectrometry / flow-cytometer / flow injection analyzer.

Terms and Conditions for Appointment
Successful candidates will be appointed on a temporary full-time contract.  Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
