Responsibilities:-

• The Manager of Strategy at HKSTP will support its strategy formulation and execution, helping to solve some of its toughest problems and, together with the larger corporate, cluster and industrial teams, plot unchartered paths forward for the organization;

• Under leadership and coaching of Senior Director of Strategy, the Manager will support cluster and sector teams to help clarify issues and objectives of various initiatives, gather internal and external stakeholders’ perspectives, form hypotheses of solutions, resourcefully conduct primary and other research to formulate fact-base, design and execute logical series of analyses and arguments against the fact-base, present implications on strategy and actions, help generate alignment among stakeholders on strategic plans, come up with implementation plans, catalyze and drive teams on implementation, and monitor and report results;

• On day-to-day basis, the Manager is expected to reach out to local and international ‘warm’ and ‘cold’ contacts to gather data and build relationships, conduct intensive and resourceful research, conduct heavy Excel- and PowerPoint-based analytical and presentation work, help take ‘PMO’ role against ongoing initiatives, present to working level and senior stakeholders and customers, and generally act as a trusted colleague and adviser among teams to push things forward in the organization;

• The position will require – and provide training in – holistic hard and soft skills, including analytical, research, interpersonal, project management, and leadership;

• To accomplish the above activities, and after fulfilling her core responsibilities, the Manager will also act as a junior face of HKSTP to both 1) help understand, represent and support needs of HKSTP’s 600+ tenants – the entrepreneurs of Hong Kong and leading global technology organizations; and 2) interface with external parties such as local and international leading technology organizations and Hong Kong Government officials;

• Some example initiatives underway that will need strategic and implementation assistance include: creating HKSTP’s and Hong Kong’s strategy in AI, Fintech, Smart City and Healthy Aging, and other cutting edge technology areas; defining HKSTP’s and Hong Kong’s re-industrialization strategy; crystalizing and implementing HKSTP’s new ‘go-to-market’ strategy and processes; strengthening how HKSTP provides services and values to its anchor technology tenants and start-up entrepreneurs; assisting in mid-term strategy and near-term execution of its investment funds-related activities; etc.  

Requirements:-

• Bachelor degree in a leading university; 

• Minimum 6 years’ relevant experience in strategy, consulting, or corporate development, preferably with experience in technology and industry sectors. Candidate with higher qualification but less experience

• Demonstrated exceptional expertise in hypotheses and strategy formulation, conducting primary and secondary research, driving executive interviews, industry sector research report compilation and writing, and PowerPoint-based presentation

• Demonstrated aptitude in working with diverse stakeholders to seek consensus and win trusts, in diverse and dynamic environments;

• Solid experience in working with technology sectors and stakeholders, preferably in strategy and analyst role ; experience working with Hong Kong and mainland government is a plus; Passionate, curious and knowledgeable about latest technology trends in areas such as AI, Fintech, robotics, IoT, biomedical (eg stem cells, therapeutics, pharma), smart cities, green tech, new materials, digital/O2O platform based business models, crowd-based de-centralized business models, etc.

• Responsible, independent, analytical and able to achieve timelines

• Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese, and preferably working ability in spoken Cantonese, English and Mandarin
