An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (Oracle & MS SQL) to join their welcoming team.

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in database administration, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. You should also have a solid understanding of database management systems and be familiar with SQL and other programming languages like Microsoft Azure.

Description

• Full life cycle support of Oracle (19c) and MS SQL (2016, 2019 & 2022) environments
• Provide advice and recommendations on database architecture, design, and implementation
• Develop, support, and communicate database policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures
• Design and implement database solutions that meet customer requirements for reliability, availability, scalability, security, and performance
• Install, upgrade and test database software, in addition to troubleshooting database issues
• Responsible for development of database backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and identifying potential data error
• Plan and perform disaster recovery testing with database restoration in alternate locations
• Assist application development teams with planning and implementations, including review and approval of database schema changes, procedures and query optimizations
• Maintain the performance of the database estate
• Respond to incidents / changes within published SLA's to maintain/resume service
• Work with 3rd party suppliers as necessary to meet operational demands
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure integration of databases with other systems and applications is compliant with operational standards and best practice
• The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time

Profile

• Must have strong Oracle and Microsoft SQL experience
• Must have strong database architecture, design, and implementation experience
• Must have strong Install, upgrade and test database software, and troubleshooting experience
• Must have strong database backup and recovery experience including disaster recovery testing with database restoration
