Key Responsibilities1. Trend Research and Presentation
- Gather information on emerging fashion trends by conducting in - depth research. This includes staying updated on global fashion shows, industry reports, and social media trends to identify the latest color palettes, patterns, fabric textures, and styles.
- Create materials for trend presentations aimed at clients. These materials could range from mood boards and trend reports to digital presentations that effectively communicate the key fashion insights and how they can be translated into market - ready products.
2. Seasonal Theme Determination
- Support the manager in defining the central themes for the upcoming development season. Analyze the collected trend data and collaborate with the manager to select the most relevant and market - appealing themes, such as specific color combinations, fabric preferences, and design aesthetics.
3. Sample Collection
- Scout for and identify unique designs, patterns, and mood boards that can be used as inspiration for sample collections. This may involve attending trade shows, browsing through fashion magazines, and exploring online design platforms.
- Collaborate with internal teams, like design and procurement, as well as external partners such as suppliers and fabric mills, to source the necessary materials. Coordinate the preparation of sample collections, ensuring that all samples meet the required quality and design standards.
4. Factory Liaison and Order Follow - up
- Maintain regular communication with factories. Provide daily support to the Product Development Manager by promptly following up on any sample - or order - related inquiries. This includes tracking the progress of sample production, addressing any issues that arise during the manufacturing process, and ensuring timely delivery.
5. Sample and Swatch Preparation
- Prepare product development samples, shipment samples, and fabric swatches each season. These samples should accurately represent the proposed products in terms of design, fabric, and quality. Additionally, be ready to fulfill any special requests from customers regarding samples and swatches.
Requirements1. Educational Background
- A degree holder, with a preference for those who have studied Fashion & Textiles or related disciplines. This educational foundation will provide a solid understanding of fashion design principles, fabric properties, and textile manufacturing processes.
2. Work Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the fashion industry. This experience should have exposed the candidate to various aspects of product development, such as trend analysis, sourcing, and sample management.
3. Industry Knowledge
- A good understanding of American apparel brands, including their brand identities, target markets, and typical fabric preferences. This knowledge will help in creating products that align with market demands. A strong grasp of fabric knowledge, covering different types of fabrics, their characteristics, and performance, is also essential.
4. Skills
- Possess strong communication and negotiation skills. The ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, external suppliers, and factories is crucial for successful product development. Negotiation skills are needed when dealing with suppliers to secure the best materials and terms. Good business acumen is also required to make informed decisions that contribute to the company's profitability.
- Be detail - oriented, with the capacity to work under pressure. In the fast - paced fashion industry, attention to detail is essential for ensuring product quality, while the ability to handle stress and meet tight deadlines is a must.
- Have proficiency in PC applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. These tools are used for creating reports, analyzing data, and making presentations.
- Demonstrate an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Mandarin. This language proficiency enables seamless communication with a diverse range of stakeholders, both locally and internationally.
