Manager / Assistant Manager (Policy and Development)

Company Overview

The scope of work of the Policy and Development Division covers the following:

  • Develop regulatory policies and requirements on insurers, including development of Risk-based Capital Regime and Policyholders’Protection Scheme for the insurance industry
  • Collaborate with standard setting bodies and fellow regulators, both local and overseas
  • Participate in committee meetings with international standard setting bodies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on policy issues
  • Provide secretarial support for statutory committees

Reporting to the Senior Manager (Section Head), Policy and Development, the Manager / Assistant Manager will assume some of the following:

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in activities of international organizations (eg International Association of Insurance Supervisors) which include, committee work of standard setting for regulatory

    initiatives of the insurance sector

  • Benchmark local regulatory regime against international standards
  • Review latest development of supervisory practices by regulators
  • Liaise with other regulators, both local (eg Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Securities

    and Futures Commission) and overseas (eg China Insurance Regulatory Commission) for 

    co-operation and collaboration
  • Facilitate the development of financial technology in the insurance sector
  • Provide secretarial support for statutory committees
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management to facilitate the administration of the

    statutory functions of the Authority

 

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in finance and banking, insurance,

    economics, law, accounting, business administration, actuarial science or an appropriate 

    field
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience for the Manager post; minimum 3 years for

    the Assistant Manager post, in accountancy, audit, insurance, actuarial, or regulatory 

    fields
  • Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements, insurance products, industry practices

    and market dynamics relating to the insurance business

  • Work experience in a local or overseas insurance regulatory agency would be an

    advantage

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Fluency in Putonghua

    would be an advantage)
