Company Overview
The scope of work of the Policy and Development Division covers the following:
- Develop regulatory policies and requirements on insurers, including development of Risk-based Capital Regime and Policyholders’Protection Scheme for the insurance industry
- Collaborate with standard setting bodies and fellow regulators, both local and overseas
- Participate in committee meetings with international standard setting bodies
- Collaborate with stakeholders on policy issues
- Provide secretarial support for statutory committees
Reporting to the Senior Manager (Section Head), Policy and Development, the Manager / Assistant Manager will assume some of the following:
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in activities of international organizations (eg International Association of Insurance Supervisors) which include, committee work of standard setting for regulatory
initiatives of the insurance sector
- Benchmark local regulatory regime against international standards
- Review latest development of supervisory practices by regulators
- Liaise with other regulators, both local (eg Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Securities
and Futures Commission) and overseas (eg China Insurance Regulatory Commission) for
co-operation and collaboration
- Facilitate the development of financial technology in the insurance sector
- Provide secretarial support for statutory committees
- Other duties as assigned by senior management to facilitate the administration of the
statutory functions of the Authority
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in finance and banking, insurance,
economics, law, accounting, business administration, actuarial science or an appropriate
field
- Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience for the Manager post; minimum 3 years for
the Assistant Manager post, in accountancy, audit, insurance, actuarial, or regulatory
fields
- Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements, insurance products, industry practices
and market dynamics relating to the insurance business
- Work experience in a local or overseas insurance regulatory agency would be an
advantage
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Fluency in Putonghua
would be an advantage)
