COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) was founded in 2002 as a self-financed college of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). CPCE oversees the operation and development of its two educational units, namely Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED), with the aim of fostering synergy in providing quality education.

CPCE’s vision is to be a leading self-financing tertiary education institution in Hong Kong. The College now invites applications for the following posts:

Division of Languages and Communication

Lecturer in Bilingual Studies and Communication / Chinese / English (two posts) (Ref. 250411-05)

Duties

The appointees will be required to:

(a) engage in teaching;
(b) provide support to course planning and development;
(c) carry out research and scholarly work;
(d) contribute to academic administration, and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned.

The appointees may station at different campuses, and be required to take up assignments and work outside Hong Kong occasionally.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a higher degree, preferably a doctoral degree in related disciplines;
(b) relevant teaching, research/consultancy and/or industrial experience;
(c) good teaching performance;
(d) active engagement in professional and scholarly activities;
(e) proficiency in English and/or Chinese (as called for by the discipline areas concerned), and
(f) good communication and interpersonal skills.

For the discipline area of Bilingual Studies and Communication, applicants should have proficiency in Cantonese and proficiency in Putonghua is preferred.

For the discipline area of Chinese, applicants should have proficiency in Cantonese and Putonghua (comparable to Grade A in Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi).

Expertise and/or experience in Translation, Language Technologies, Educational Technologies, AI in Chinese Language Media, Chinese Creative Writing and Chinese Media Studies would be an advantage.

Conditions of Service

An attractive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be made on a two-year contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
