Major Duties:
The appointee shall report to the Programme Leader and Head of Department and engage in teaching and related learning activities, support students in their learning, participate in academic and scholarly activities of the Department, and undertake academic and administrative support services.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have a recognised Master’s degree, preferably a Doctoral degree, in Physiotherapy, Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, Strength and Conditioning or related disciplines, preferably with relevant teaching experience at tertiary level and/or experience in professional practice in the relevant fields; and high proficiency in English and preferably in Chinese, including Putonghua.
He/she should be a registered physiotherapist, sports therapist, or with potential for registration with the Physiotherapists Board of Hong Kong, or sports therapist registered with the Society of Sports Therapists in the UK. The candidate who possesses dual professional qualifications (i.e. Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy OR Sports Therapy and Strength & Conditioning) will have an advantage. The ability to teach subjects in the following areas will be a great advantage:
(i) Rehabilitation of Special Populations;
(ii) Professional Practice & Clinical Leadership in Sports Therapy;
(iii) Recognition and Evaluation of Sports Injuries;
(iv) Management of Sports Injury;
(v) Principles and Practice of Sports Therapy;
(vi) Sport Massage;
(vii) Functional Anatomy and Exercise Physiology;
(viii) Manual Therapy;
(ix) Pitch-side Emergency and Trauma Management; and
(x) Strength and Conditioning.
Ability and experience in arranging student internships and supervise honours project or those with extensive local and international industrial connections would also be an advantage.
Notes:
(1) The post is at the rank of Teaching Fellow II.
(2) Candidates may be appointed on fractional, short term or part-time terms of employment.
(3) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(4) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(5) The appointee(s) will work at the Chai Wan Campus.
