The Centre for General Education and Research at the Academy offers a range of Complementary Studies courses including Languages.  Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer (Chinese Language).
 
The successful applicants will join a collaborative and proactive team and assist the management and delivery of Chinese language courses. The postholder will oversee the development of course materials at undergraduate degree and sub-degree levels, and coordinate part-time teachers in course delivery.
 
Applicants should:
(a) Possess a Master’s degree in Chinese language or related discipline;
(b) Have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level;
(c) Have a proven track record in developing classroom-learning and eLearning materials that are student-centred, communicative and outcome-based;
(d) Preferably have experience or an interest in art or performing arts; and
(e) Have an excellent command of written and oral Chinese and fluency in spoken and written English.
 
The ideal candidate will be a committed and dynamic teacher, have excellent interpersonal skills and work to a high standard both independently and as part of a team.
 
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contact.  Renewal of contact is subject to performance.  A gratuity payment equals up to 15% of the total basic salary earned during the contract period may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period.  The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Academy’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals 15 % of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.   Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits.  Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Subject to negotiation, expected commencement date will be early September 2023.
