IT Officer or IT Technician in Data and Security Team in the Information Technology Services (ITS) (Ref.: 522406)

ITS provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its new strategic development and strategic adoption of new technologies. The Role 

The appointees will be responsible for providing data and security services; supporting users in meeting the University’s requirements for information security (e.g. information system assessment and privacy impact assessment); providing emergency support in relation to security operations; collaborating with various stakeholders for matters relating to the operation of security devices; keeping up with the emerging technologies and industry best practices to protect campus network against cyber attacks; recommending and enforcing security policies, procedures and standards to ensure information security, data privacy and its integrity; developing and support information security systems in detecting, alerting and mitigating cyberattacks; providing the second level support regarding data and security services; and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Qualities 

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, preferably with working experience in IT. They should have excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; knowledge of IT services and applications; and good organizational and interpersonal skills. 

They should have sound knowledge, skills and a successful track record in at least one of the following areas:

• Infrastructure and application security
• Operating, monitoring and managing security devices (firewalls, IPS, etc.)
• Security operation and incident response
• I.T. system auditing and data privacy assessment

Applicants with the following experiences or qualifications would have advantages:

• ITIL or PRINCE2
• CCNA or CCNP
• CISA or CISSP
• NG firewalls
• SIEM

Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Technician.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
