IT Manager/IT Officer in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Science (Ref: 520147)(to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability) 

Sau Po Centre on Ageing is a rapidly expanding centre that aims to become a leading research centre on gerontology in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region. We are looking for a highly dynamic, proactive, and experienced IT professional who excels in project management, execution, and quality assurance, with a solid technical background.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related disciplines, at least 8 years’ relevant work experience in project management, leading, managing and driving IT development, stakeholder and vendor management. Experience in system platforms (i.e., service matching, eLearning) and mobile applications (iOS/Android platform) and development is preferred. Those with good knowledge of Agile methodologies for software development, good sense of visual and graphic presentations, practical knowledge of system design and internet programming languages/tools (e.g., Vue.js, React, CSS 3, HTML 5, PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, WordPress, etc.) will have an advantage. Applicants should also be a good team player with strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

The appointee will be responsible for leading, developing and deploying a mission-critical caregiver support web-based solution with our community partners to address the pressing needs of caregivers in our community. He/She is expected to

  • communicate closely with end users to identify service processes, improvement opportunities and ensure the system or applications match with users’ requirements;
  • design the procurement strategy (such as preparation of tender documents, evaluation criteria, procurement timeline, proposed tenderer list, tender briefing, and other relevant tendering activities, etc.), prepare and evaluate tender document and proposals, conduct technical feasibility studies, and identify potential supplier risks;
  • manage the performance of contractors and other external vendors;
  • prepare project progress reports, identify, and address project risk(s) to ensure projects are delivered on-track, on-time, and on-budget with proper documentation and quality;
  • develop and maintain system/e-learning platforms and perform other programming duties as assigned.

Applicants with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Officer.
