The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong's leading international schools providing quality, holistic education to a multinational student body of approximately 1250 students and 240 faculty and staff. The school is organised into two Streams, German and English leading to qualifications in the German International Abitur and I/GCSE & IBDP respectively. HEAD OF ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
(GERMAN INTERNATIONAL STREAM – PRIMARY DEPARTMENT)
The Teacher of English as a Second Language will be required to teach throughout the German Primary Department with a lesson load between 20 to 28 lessons a week.
The successful candidate will collaborate with peers in their subject/curriculum area and the Head of Department to uphold excellent professional standards and to maintain high levels of teaching and learning in addition to their role as a teacher. They will coordinate the teaching of their relevant subject/curriculum area and take a leading role in the development of the curriculum. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an annual action plan for the subject/curriculum area that aligns with the Departmental Development Plan/Development Goals, with input from the Head of Department, to drive further improvements in the subject/curriculum area. The plan will determine the focus and priorities for the upcoming acadmice year.
The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner who is dedicated to enabling each child to achieve the highest possible standards. They will be expected to be up-to-date with current teaching and learning practices with regards to differentiated learning, assessment and reporting. The successsfull candidate will be a dynamic, open-minded and enthusiastic practitioner who is dedicated to providing learning opportunities for every student commensurate to their needs, abilities and stage of development, by teaching a programme that gives each student the opportunity to experience success, and which challenges all students to achieve their full potential.
