WEST KOWLOON CULTURAL DISTRICT AUTHORITY
A cornerstone of the ambitious West Kowloon Cultural District Project, M+ is Hong Kong’s new museum for visual culture, encompassing twentieth and twenty-first century art, design and architecture, and moving image from Hong Kong, China, Asia, and beyond.
Since 2012, M+ has been presenting diverse public programmes and exhibitions, and is building a permanent collection, in the run-up to the scheduled 2019 public opening of the museum building designed by Herzog & de Meuron with TFP Farrells and Ove Arup & Partners HK.
The M+ Pavilion, the first permanent building to be completed in WKCD, will serve as the venue for the exhibitions organised by M+ in the run-up to the completion of the main M+ building in 2019.
Exhibition Manager (Ref: 17188)
You will be responsible for:
- reporting to the Senior Manager, Exhibitions, providing support to both the Collection and Exhibition Services team and the Curatorial team with short and long-term planning and managing executions and implementations of all exhibitions, display projects, and other curatorial projects;
- liaising between specific curators-in-charge and the Collection and Exhibition Services team and providing administrative support;
- project managing all aspects of exhibitions, display projects, and other curatorial projects, ensuring compliance with museum standards, including but not limited to schedules and budgets, working closely with project teams, serving as liaison across all WKCDA departments, developing contracts, ensuring deadlines are met and overseeing (de-)installation of exhibitions;
- actively contributing to the planning and execution of the collection installation as part of the Building Opening Display project; and
- managing the master schedule of specific curatorial projects and supporting M+ international touring exhibitions if and when required.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree in relevant fields such as art history, museum studies, arts administration, cultural management or equivalent;
- have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of leading and project managing exhibitions within a museum or gallery environment, or in event management;
- have strong project management and team skills with the ability to work with tight deadlines and manage multiple projects within an ever-changing environment;
- be able to solve problems and prioritise needs in a variety of situations where immediate decisions are necessary;
- be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word and Excel and PowerPoint); knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent software would be preferred; and
- have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in English and Chinese.
