Company Overview

Role Purpose

Your responsibilities are to:

  • The Lead Engineer supports all Engineering matters of a hyperscale Data Centre including critical facilities management and has responsibility for execution of all engineering services.
  • Managing and overseeing operations and engineering of critical facilities (e.g. MER/SER) through effective daily operations and administration with the objectives of safely, efficiently, and reliably operating at the upmost level to its required full uptime.
  • Work requires strong formal conduct of operations skills, technical expertise, personal accountability, and flawless execution of work activities commensurate with a high risk critical environment and associated expectations
  • The Lead Engineer will manage a team of 15 day/shift engineers/technicians, with technical competency and working team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, maintains, monitors, and performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical equipment, which may include the following: mechanical (including HVAC, computer room air conditioners, chillers, and plumbing) electrical (including DRUPS, DC battery systems, PDU, generators, and switchgear), fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems etc. Also responsible for operation and maintenance of non-critical equipment such as heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, hot water systems, etc. Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment and ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Develops, coordinates, reviews and submission of Critical Work Packages (CWPs) or work method statement including LOTO (log out/tag out) required under Change Management Work Flow Process for assigned facilities and systems to Critical Service Manager approval.
  • Identify work operation to include as SOP and ERP after reviewing and have in depth understanding of the critical system/facilities under his/her management.
  • Ensure that compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the operation of the building's infrastructure.
  • Work with CBRE HSE team to identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure that the building's staff and occupants work in a safe environment.
  • Develop routine annual maintenance plans and capital plans which would include planning for infra-structure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure the building's future capabilities are maintained for Critical Service Manager Approval.
  • Provide technical input to facility projects and modification works, including witness of M&E testing and commissioning, and assist facilities manager in final acceptance of completed facilities prior taking over for management.
  • Develop and maintain all records and compliance documentation for the building/facilities are maintained and up to date, including building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with State or Local law.
  • Assist in coordination of engineering data and preparation of engineering reports for Critical Service Manager on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Ensures that programs and procedures are in place to ensure vendors is effectively and consistently trained and qualified for their assigned facilities and associated work in a critical environment.
  • Understands the engineering design and operational aspects of the portfolio's critical facilities, systems, equipment, and occupying critical lines of business. Ensures system critical facility and system shortcomings are identified and understood, risk communicated to the client, and corrective actions developed and recommended.
  • Conduct periodic site inspection for client external data centre and disaster recovery site.
  • Response to emergency alarm and call-out including site attendance when an event notification alert is received for any potential incident may occur on site.

Skills Required

  • Proficient in English through all mediums of communication. Good cantonese.
  • Technical Certificate from local recognized Institution or Professional Engineering Diploma in a technical field or equivalent.
  • Min. 3+ years of experience in Data Centre facilities engineering operat, ions and maintenance.
  • A valid Registered Electrical Worker license (A0, B0, C0, H0) is preferred.
