The University now invites application for the following position: 

Assistant Network and System Manager - Information Technology Services Centre
(Ref: ANSM (ITSC) 2025-04-25) 

Responsibilities: 

• set up, manage and enhance on-premises and cloud servers;
• evaluate new system and network technologies to improve operational efficiency;
• establish good documentation practices for daily operations and security updates;
• prepare specifications and perform evaluation for technical procurement and tendering processes; and
• supervise a small group of system engineers to provide infrastructure support and accomplish IT projects and initiatives.
   

Applicants should: 

• possess a recognised bachelor's degree or above in IT, Computer Science or relevant discipline with at least 5 years of network and system experience and 1 year of managerial experience, preferably in tertiary education field;
• have hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:

o Virtualisation and container technologies: VMware/Hyper-V/KVM, Docker;
o Cloud platforms: Azure, Aliyun/AWS;
o Open-source technologies: Linux, MySQL, Nginx/Apache, PHP, BIND, Postfix, WordPress, Moodle;
o Microsoft technologies: Windows Server, AD DS, M365 (Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint);
o Storage and network technologies: SAN (FC, iSCSI), NAS (NFS, SMB), firewall, ADC, WAF;
o Monitoring and logging: Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK; and
o Automation: scripting (shell, Python, PowerShell), Ansible, Git.

• have experience in managing a fleet of servers, VMs with regular security updates;
• have sound security practices on system setup, configuration, hardening and operations;
• have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
• have customer-oriented mindset with good interpersonal and communication skills; and
• be mature, self-motivated, able to work independently and willing to work for on-call duties during non-office hours.
