Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Legal Counsel (Disciplinary Proceedings), the incumbent is responsible for the following:
- Scrutinize disciplinary cases and prepare written submissions to the Disciplinary Committee of the Authority
- Provide analysis on evidence to facilitate efficient disposal of disciplinary cases
- Present cases to the Disciplinary Committee at disciplinary inquiry hearings
- Supervise and coach staff members to carry out the disciplinary proceedings function
- Assist the Section Head in the management of the Disciplinary Proceedings Section
- Perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by supervisors and senior management
Requirements- A recognized law degree
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience, or at least 3 years’ solid experience in prosecution and/or litigation
- A qualified solicitor or barrister with at least one-year post-qualification experience in the litigation practice of Hong Kong law may be exempted from the above requirements
- Management/Supervisory experience is preferred
- Knowledge and experience in handling disciplinary proceedings in regulatory bodies will be an advantage
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Preferably attained Grade “C” or above in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in HKCEE, or Level 4 or above in HKDSE, or equivalent)
- Qualified lawyer, legal executive in litigation, or court/tribunal prosecutor preferred
- Good written and verbal presentation skills
- Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills; possess an inquisitorial mindset and ability to work independently
- Mature with good interpersonal skills and a team player
Terms of AppointmentCompetitive remuneration package commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointee will initially be offered a 3-year contract, subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance and the service needs of the Authority.
