The Department of History at Lingnan University (http://www.ln.edu.hk/history/) invites applications for the position of Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer. The successful candidate will teach tutorials and/or deliver lectures for the course “China in the World,” a comprehensive survey of China’s role in world history from antiquity, through the global Middle Ages, to the present. This course is integral to the Core Curriculum at Lingnan University and is required for all undergraduate students, designed to provide all undergraduate students with a common foundation in humanistic education. The appointee may also teach courses in his/her fields of expertise, after fulfilling the primary obligations of this course.
Candidates with a strong background in the history of China (from any period), coupled with an interest in comparative, global, and/or transnational history, are particularly encouraged to apply.
General Requirements
Applicants should have a Master’s degree or above in a relevant discipline by the time of appointment in August 2025. Candidates with substantial teaching experience at the undergraduate level and proficiency in both Chinese and English will have an advantage.
Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to two years.
