Job Scope

50% Engineering related Fire Life Health Safety Security & Environmental (FLHSS&E)

20% Utility Analysis

30% Maintenance & Project work

 

The Assistant Chief Engineer assumes the lead role in executing the Fire Life Health Safety Security & Environmental programme with a specific focus on all Engineering department related standards. It is the incumbents responsibility to review corporate guidelines and formulate policies and procedures as required.

 

Under the supervision of the Director Of Engineering, the Assistant Chief Engineer will formulate action plans to ensure that the divisional FLHSS&E Targets are achieved at all times. It is desired that candidates possess a degree in either Engineering, Environmental Studies and possess a minimum of 4 years work experience within the Engineering field. Excellent English language skills both written and spoken are required.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Manages all repair and maintenance work through the Computerized Maintenance Management System and conducts daily briefings with the engineering management and supervisors to resolve practical issues and concerns.  
  2. Takes leading role in establishing the objective for the Mechanic, Electrical and Air Conditioning Foremen and coordinates the operational activity of all trades to ensure that these objectives are reached.
  3. Establishes duty rosters and vacation plans for the engineering department. Ensures that these plans are in accordance with the local regulations and the demand of the workload.
  4. Responsible for the work carried out by the Duty Teams and ensures the follow through on items recorded in the engineering logbook.
  5. Performs monthly inspections of the complete property and follows up on outstanding issues with the concerned Foremen. The inspection shall also cover responsibilities of the other departments with the intention to ensure the overall quality standards of the hotel.
  6. Responsible for the Preventive Maintenance Program, follow up all engineering issues and attend the meetings related to the FLHSS audit.
  7. Takes active part in the Emergency Response Team and is responsible for the follow up on operational as well as technical matters related to the Hotel Emergency Procedures.
  8. Takes active part in training programs within the hotel or with exterior sources.
  9. Ensures that all engineering areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  10. Establishes training program within the hotel or with exterior sources to ensure that all subordinates are trained to the standards required in their Job Description as well as Local Regulations.
  11. Maintains an excellent relationship with all Local Authorities related to all trades.
  12. Assists in establishing utility analysis, budgets and target consumption. 
  13. Ensures that all equipment and installations in the hotel is installed and maintained in conformity with the all local rules and regulation as well as Corporate Standards.
  14. Assists in establishing repair & maintenance budgets for the equipment. Establishes control procedures to ensure that the concerned costs are maintained within budget.
  15. Assists in establishing outside service agreements and monitors the performance of the contractors.
  16. Ensures that all procurement is made in accordance with the concerned Policy and Procedures.
  17. Assists the Director of Engineering in establishing and implementing the Asset Replacement Program and Capex plans.
  18. Ensures that all Supervisors maintain records of the store items related to the equipment within their responsibility and ensures that minimum stock levels are maintained.
  19. Contributes with ideas in finding solutions for daily operational issues within the complete Engineering Department.
  20. Maintains a good relationship with Guests, other Departments and fellow Technicians through the consistent display of outstanding LQE skills.
  21. Understands and complies with the Departmental Rules and the Hotel Policy and Procedures.
  22. Works closely with internal stakeholders, such as FLHSS&E Manager, Hygiene Manager, Security Manager to drive FLHSS&E objectives across the hotel.
  23. It is expected that will propose and implement cost saving opportunities across the hotel without impacting colleague or guest experience.
  24. It is desired that the incumbent possesses the ability to work across different departments since many FLHSS&E related aspects involve multiple areas.
