Banking and finance
There are lots of employment opportunities when it comes to the banking industry, both in Hong Kong and the mainland. The recently-launched China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone may benefit Hong Kong. Young people who want to be successful in the industry should be ready to embrace change as new products appear on the market.
The mainland banking and financial market keeps growing. It is therefore understandable that there are many job opportunities. It is also understandable that candidates who are proficient in Putonghua will surely have more opportunities, as they may be the talents the industry in the mainland is seeking.
The China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone was launched in September. Its rules and regulations are still not yet known. Hence, it is difficult to evaluate the effect the zone will have on Hong Kong. However, because it may not serve individual clients, those who are in need may still turn to Hong Kong for help. The city can also continue to enjoy its status as an offshore RMB centre, despite the launch of the zone. If young people really want to be successful, they should be ready to embrace change and always be willing to learn.
