HONG KONG - Societe Generale Cross Asset Research has announced the appointment of Mark Keenan as Cross Commodity Research Strategist, effective 1 April 2013. Based in Singapore, Keenan will be responsible for Cross Commodity Research and Strategy for Asia Pacific.
He reports to Michael Haigh, Global Head of Commodities Research, and functionally to Guy Stear, Head of Research for Asia. He replaces Jeremy Friesen, who has taken up a new position with Societe Generale in the United States.
Mark has more than 16 years of experience in commodities, with key expertise in the design, development and execution of quantitative investment strategies. His extensive experience in both buy and sell-side will be instrumental in offering Societe Generale’s clients with a holistic view on all commodities underlyings.
Prior to joining Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking, Keenan was CEO of Cubit Commodity Research in Singapore, a firm dedicated to fundamentally-driven commodity investment strategies. Prior to that, he worked as a quantitative commodity analyst at RWC Partners (formerly MPC Investors) in London and thereafter as head of Portfolio Analytics and Risk for the firm. Before joining RWC Partners, Keenan had also worked at UBS Investment Bank, ABN AMRO and Prudential Bache. He holds a Master of Arts in Biochemistry from Oxford University.
