I’ve worked at the same logistics firm since graduating 25 years ago and am one of the most senior people in Hong Kong. But I heard rumours that the company will be shutting its HK office next year and anyone wishing to stay will have to relocate to another country – which is not an option for me. My worry is that I’m not sure I can do what I do now somewhere else. I know my current firm inside out and have spent years building up relationships here. I can’t see how I can replicate that success in a new company. Should I target less senior positions so that the chances of failure are lower?
