The University of Hong Kong's School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) offers an Executive Diploma in Corporate Coaching, designed for executives, human resources directors and head hunters.
Dr. Pansy Lam, HKU SPACE senior programme director, says the course is the only one of its kind in Hong Kong.
Bonnie Chan, one of the lecturers, says coaching is more than teaching staff new skills. "It is a way of inspiring staff to contribute and make full use of their potential. This is crucial in keeping them loyal and reducing turnover rate."
Chan says the programme's students come from diverse backgrounds. "We have people from the finance sector, law and fashion. Some of our students come from the United States, Britain, France and Italy," she says.
Applicants should have a recognised degree and at least five years' supervisory experience. Students need to commit to seven hours of classroom meetings once a week, and attend 120 hours of lectures. Classes are held every Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon.
To find out more about corporate coaching, interested parties can attend the "Change mindset, change future" executive coaching seminar on June 11 at the HKU SPACE Admiralty Learning Centre from 2pm to 3pm. The talk is free of charge.
