HONG KONG: David Goldman has joined Reorient Group as managing director and head of Americas, providing the group’s clients with strategic advice, and adding global coverage to complement the firm’s resources and expertise in Asia.
Goldman, who will be based in Hong Kong, will also be responsible for growing Reorient’s relationships with institutional investors and investment banking clients in the Western hemisphere.
Goldman joined from Macrostrategy, a financial consulting firm. He was previously global head of debt research and a member of the fixed income executive committee at Bank of America. He has also held senior positions at Credit Suisse, where he was elected to Institutional Investor’s all-America fixed income team as general strategist, and at Cantor Fitzgerald. Goldman is a widely-cited and respected writer on finance as well as global affairs. He is a fellow at the London Center for Policy Research and the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs.
“[Goldman] is a great addition to our team and will help Reorient establish a presence and brand in the Americas. His insights into world politics and their effect on global macroeconomics will augment Reorient’s offering while expanding our global footprint. His fixed income background makes him a valuable resource in uncertain times,” said Brett McGonegal, Reorient Group’s executive managing director and CEO.
A successful author and prolific writer, Goldman has written hundreds of articles, on fixed income research and economics for investment banks, financial media and academic journals. In 2011, he published How Civilizations Die, a widely-cited study of global demographics.
Goldman frequently addresses professional and governmental groups, including a past World Bank Annual Meeting symposium on Asian Bond Markets and the Greenwich Roundtable. He appears frequently on media networks, such as CNBC and Bloomberg.
Reorient offers a full range of financial products and services, including investment banking, equities sales and trading, private equity transactions, research analysis and strategy, as well as global distribution.
