CPA Program has right tools

As the interconnected global markets and knowledge economy become more complex, accountants must have the professional skills and perspectives to navigate business environments.

"The CPA Program incorporates real-life business issues and applications," says Sidney Leung, associate head and associate professor, department of accountancy, City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

"In addition to professional accounting knowledge, the programme offers a broad commercial perspective, and candidates can study at any time from anywhere in the world," says Leung, who is also a member of CPA Australia.

He adds that CPA Australia's designation is respected by employers around the globe. Members enjoy access to a network of thousands of CPA Australia professionals, including a large cohort in Asia Pacific. Also, staffed offices in Asia and elsewhere are on hand to give members support.

Gaining a BBA (Hons) in accountancy, accountancy and law, or accountancy and management information systems through CityU allows graduates to join CPA Australia's CPA Program, with exemption from the foundation level.

"[Aside from their studies], students participate in internships, exchange programmes, study tours and whole-person development activities," says Leung.
