The Savannah College of Art and Design (Scad) will open in Hong Kong this autumn and is looking for both academic and back-office employees.
"Scad Hong Kong has a variety of openings for professors and other staff," says John Paul Rowan, the college's vice-president. "Courses of study will focus on digital media and include advertising, animation, graphic design, illustration, interactive design and game development. There will also be programmes in motion media design, photography and visual effects."
Back-office positions include director of communications, head librarian and a range of administrative posts.
Located in the former Magistracy Building in North Point, the college will prepare talented students for professional careers in design. Faculty and staff will provide an education with the help of leading-edge technology, advanced learning resources and comprehensive support services.
"Our ability to offer this experience and prepare our students for professional careers hinges upon hiring and retaining the most qualified individuals," Rowan says.
New recruits must have a relevant doctoral degree and some teaching experience, but exceptions can be made if a candidate has a particular expertise.
"As a student-centred organisation, our staff should also be energetic and entrepreneurial, and have a passion for passing on their knowledge," he says. Children of full-time employees will be eligible for a waiver of tuition fees after one year of employment.
