Position Description
Mother’s Choice seeks a Community Education Manager for driving and piloting community education initiatives at Mother’s Choice to equip and empower children and youth with the knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions. Reporting to the Director of Community Education, the Community Education Manager plays a critical role in our goal to educate and mobilize our community and prevent the problems that we face at Mother’s Choice. The ideal candidate should have a deep commitment to the Mother’s Choice vision of every child in a loving family, a familiarity of the social service landscape, and experience in developing collaborative evidence-based programs for youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, review and adapt community education programs (referencing to evidence-based practices that are culturally appropriate for Hong Kong) including the current comprehensive sexuality education program to targeted youth, community-based groups, agencies and schools, and pilot initiatives to identify effective models that equip and empower children and youth to make healthy decisions;
- Manage the Volunteer Health Educator program that equips volunteers with the appropriate support and training to contribute to Mother’s Choice community education programs;
- Continue to refine the monitoring and evaluation mechanism and explore collaborative research partners, to evaluate the effectiveness, impact and scalability of the community education programs;
- Develop and drive other community education initiatives including the Youth Leaders Program, as well as events and workshops to amplify the reach and public awareness on issues we face at Mother’s Choice;
- Build and maintain meaningful strategic relationships with key stakeholders including governmental bodies, community/peer agencies, service providers, and academics;
- Develop and maintain clear documentation of the programs and activities as a demonstration of best practices;
- In liaison with L&D consultant, design time-bound projects to involve student interns in Community Education related programs and activities and build relationships with the respective faculties to explore prospective partnerships;
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- University degree or above with 10 years or more of experience in a management capacity in education or public health; ideally with a focus on children, youth, sexuality health and other related disciplines.
- Strong facilitative and strategic leadership skills along with ability to build relationships and promote critical thinking and reflective practices.
- Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills to engage with a wide range of people. Without direct authority be able to inspire, educate, motivate and influence others. Demonstrable ability in shaping organisational culture.
- Superior problem solving skills and results-driven attitude, self-motivation with an ability to work under pressure.
- Project and program development and management experience including budget management skills.
- Flexible and can work in different service programs locations as the project demands
- Self-aware individual with creativity, drive, resilience and integrity whilst keeping a sense of perspective.
- Passionate about the Mother’s Choice mission and committed to the strategic vision and future plans of the organization.
- Good written and spoken English skills; ability to communicate effectively in Cantonese is desirable
