As Director of Data Analytics and Insights your key responsibility will be to oversee company wide data analysis to provide evidence based insights that will drive business strategy. This pivotal leadership role will steer the South China Morning Post to achieve its ambition of becoming a data-centric media business. You will possess exceptional communications skills to head a function that helps business units to understand the audiences and customers they are trying to engage with.

You will have a background within media or digital industry and be an expert in taking large amounts of data and making it accessible and actionable. You will have the ability to cut through the data and present the key findings in a simple way, to allow action to be taken.

Main Responsibilities

• Educate the business on insights and best use of data in shaping business direction and product development
• A deep understanding of the digital landscape
• Ability to analyse and interpret data on the fly
• Define data points for collection in order to best understand customer and facilitate insight extraction
• Creation of insight reports to engage internal stakeholders
• Ensure data sets are comprehensive, consistent and adopted across all products and all parts of the organization.

Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor’s degree; AT LEAST 15+ years’ experience
• Solid understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
• Expertise in deep-dive trends and statistical analysis
• Ability to succinctly and visually represent key insights, familiarity with the creation of frameworks and an experienced synthesizer of insights is a must
• Ability to lead presentations and workshops. Strong storytelling skills
• Ability to collaborate with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams within an organization, and manage junior team members
• Excellent English oral and written communication skills
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
