Duties :
(a) To organize and conduct professional development activities to facilitate the implementation of curriculum development measures with regard to key learning areas and curriculum initiatives;
(b)To promote curriculum leadership in schools with respect to qualities, skills and knowledge required;
(c)To provide on-site support to secondary schools implementing different curriculum development measures, in drawing up curriculum plans, exploring effective teaching and learning strategies and producing teaching and learning materials in the following areas: (1) Liberal Studies (S4-6) implementation in school; (2) Junior secondary level Personal, Social and Humanities Education (PSHE) / Science Education; (3) Cross-curricula development at the junior secondary level.
(d)To participate in research and development projects, diagnosis, evaluation and assessment exercises relevant to curriculum development measures;
(e)To identify, facilitate and disseminate good practices of schools in the implementation of curriculum development measures;
(f)To share the administrative duties in the section and assist in the planning, operation and evaluation of the measures;
(g)To liaise with subject specialists, other individuals or bodies in relation to the implementation of curriculum development measures; and
(h)To perform any other duties assigned as and when required.
Entry Requirements :
(a)A Hong Kong bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Social Science or Science Subjects, or equivalent [see Note (ii)];
(b)A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;
(c)Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 results in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [see Note (iii)];
(d)At least 6 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in teaching, teacher education, or providing direct support to schools to enhance teaching and learning in Liberal Studies (S4-6), and preference will be given to those with curriculum development and learning/ teaching/ assessment experiences in subjects of the key learning area of PSHE or Science Education;
(e)Good knowledge of the local education systems and recent curriculum reforms in both local and international settings;
(f)Good communication and interpersonal skills; and
(g)Good English and Chinese writing skills and fluent in spoken English and Cantonese.

Note:
(i)The application period for the post of Curriculum Officer [School-based Curriculum Development (Secondary) – Liberal Studies] is from 6 January 2017 (Friday) to 20 January 2017 (Friday).
(ii)Candidates should mark clearly on their application forms the major and minor subjects studied in their degree courses. Candidates possessing additional qualifications (e.g. a higher degree in a relevant subject) should include details in their applications.
(iii)Candidates’ results in the Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) papers of CRE are classified as ‘Level 2’, ‘Level 1’ or ‘Fail’, with ‘Level 2’ being the highest. Level 5 or above in Chinese Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE); or Grade ‘C’ or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) are accepted as equivalent to ‘Level 2’ in the UC paper of the CRE. Level 5 or above in English Language of the HKDSEE; or Grade ‘C’ or above in Use of English of the HKALE; or ‘C’ or above in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level), are accepted as equivalent to ‘Level 2’ in the UE paper of the CRE. Applicants with an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test are considered as having met the English language proficiency requirement of the Curriculum Officer post. The IELTS test result must be valid on any date during the application period.
(iv)Candidates should state the nature and relevancy of the post-qualification experience.
(v)For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of the BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all Curriculum Officer jobs in Education Bureau. The BL test result will constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment.
