Duties include: -
(a) Work in the Convention Against Torture Scheme (CAT Scheme) office which provides legal assistance for claimants during the screening of claims made under Article 3 of the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
(b) Interview torture claim claimants eligible for the legal representation service under the CAT Scheme and obtaining instructions for the duty lawyer’s reference.
(c) Assist lawyers in interviewing CAT claimants at the office or various detention centres.
(d) Frequent visit to detention centres around Hong Kong is required.
Qualifications: -
(a) Degree holder.
(b) High proficiency in English and Chinese, both spoken and written.
(c) Knowledge of any language other than Chinese and English will be an advantage.
Salary: -
Salary will start at HK$29,560- per month.
Fringe benefits include Contributory Provident Fund, Medical Insurance (covering dependants as well) and 18 days paid leave per annum.
(Be required to work at various offices throughout the territory on rotation).
Appointment will be made on fixed term contract basis from date of commencement of employment for 12 months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and other conditions.
