Job Summary:

• SCMP Group is transitioning from a print-centric to a digital and new media business, while shifting focus from a regional audience to a global audience.
• Associate will be part of the Strategy & Special Projects team under the CEO Office, which works with C-level executives to develop strategies and lead on critical projects across the Company that will drive SCMP Group’s transition.

Responsibilities:

• Strategy Formation – Develop overall strategy of the Group, as well as strategies of different lines of businesses and functions.

• Objectives Setting & Tracking – Work with senior management to set strategic objectives, track strategy implementation progress and assess performance against targets.

• Special Projects – Identify and lead on projects with strategic importance, responsible for project management and coordination across business lines, functions and external parties.

• Market & Industry Intelligence – Keep track of macro and micro media trends in Hong Kong, China, Asia and the world, and produce relevant reports for the Company.

• Analysis & Education – Structure and conduct data analysis and primary research to uncover insights, identify issues and areas of improvement for different business lines.

• Investments & Divestments – Identify investment and divestment opportunities, conduct business, financial and valuation analysis and due diligence.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in consulting firms, investment banks, or strategy/ business development/ commercial / operation teams within large corporations focusing on media or other industries.

• Education and/ or work background in the US, with good understanding of the US media landscape

• Business, Management, Accounting, Finance, Economics and related majors welcome.

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

• Strong quantitative acumen with demonstrated ability to think analytically and conceptually.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in Chinese is desirable.

• Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in a business context.

• Confidence and people skills to handle senior management and client relationships.

• Diligent and detail-oriented without losing the ability to address the big picture.

• Self-starter with a real drive for impact, can-do attitude, and collaborative mindset.

• Passion for the media industry.

Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
