Company Overview
The mission of the Legislative Council Secretariat is to provide efficient administrative, secretariat and research support for the Legislative Council, enhance community understanding of the activities of the Council and ensure an effective avenue for redress. The Secretariat is looking for a high calibre individual to fill the position of Assistant Visitor Services Officer.

Main duties

The main duties of an Assistant Visitor Services Officer include:
(a) conducting guided educational tours of the Legislative Council Complex and related activities;
(b) providing administrative support for the Visitor Services team of the Public Information Division;
(c) assisting in supervising the operation of the Souvenir Shop and the reception counters;
(d) assisting in sourcing and procuring souvenir items;
(e) providing enquiry and reception services to the public; and
(f) preparing various reports on visitor services.

Entry requirements
Candidates should:
(a) have obtained (i) Level 3 or equivalent Note or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination ("HKDSEE"), or equivalent; or (ii) Grade E or above in two subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Level 3/Grade C or above in three other subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent; preferably with an accredited Associate Degree or Higher Diploma in hospitality, travel, retail or customer service or a relevant discipline, or equivalent;
(b) preferably have six years' working experience in hospitality, travel, retail or customer service industry;
(c) have good command of spoken and written Chinese and English, including Putonghua;
(d) have sound knowledge of current affairs;
(e) have good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to be attentive and responsive to the dynamic needs of visitors;
(f) be computer literate with hands-on knowledge of common computer applications, preferably with good design layout and electronic spreadsheet skills; and
(g) be willing to work shift duties and outside normal office hours, including weekends and public holidays, and to wear uniform.

The Secretariat may devise further criteria to shortlist applicants. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend a written and computer skills test.
Note "Attained with Distinction" in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in HKDSEE are regarded as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE.

Remuneration
The starting salary is $17,995 per month, increasing by seven annual increments to $26,785. There is also a monthly cash allowance for the rank of Assistant Visitor Services Officer (the current rate is $465 per month). An incremental credit of one salary point will be offered to the successful candidate having accredited Associate Degree qualification or above. The successful candidate will be appointed on three-year agreement terms subject to renewal upon satisfactory completion of service, at which the appointee will be eligible for an end-of-agreement gratuity. The gratuity, when added to the employer's contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme, is equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the agreement period. Fringe benefits include paid leave as well as medical and dental benefits.
