Company Overview

Overview: 
Reporting to the Branch Compliance Manager & MLRO in Hong Kong, the Assistant Compliance Manager will work closely with Compliance across Mashreq group to ensure all aspects of the AML Program is adhered to. The ideal candidate would have a strong desire to learn and a keen interest in Compliance within the context of international trade finance.

Key Responsibilities:

To support the Branch Compliance Manager & MLRO in adhering to relevant regulatory requirements:

  • Monitoring and validation of client Know Your Customer (KYC) at the time of onboarding as well as during the periodic review process;
  • Perform compliance and sanctions screening on trade finance transactions and cross-border payments;
  • Identify ML/TF or regulatory compliance risks in an account/product/transaction; and provide necessary analysis and recommendations to the appropriate stakeholder(s);
  • Compile relevant data and prepare statistics for the preparation of monthly management updates and MLRO reports;
  • Perform periodic sample tests in carrying out Compliance risk control self-assessments;
  • Provide support in the preparation of compliance regulatory reports, MIS and other adhoc request for information as and when required;
  • In accordance with Bank policy and regulatory framework, report actual and potential AML/CFT breaches when identified;
  • Review and update compliance policies, procedures and processes, to ensure that there are in line with the latest requirements; and
  • Support the Branch Compliance Manager & MLRO with other ad hoc projects or reviews as required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting / Finance / Law or similar;
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Audit, Assurance or Compliance, in an authorized financial institution;
  • Knowledge of Hong Kong CDD requirements, AML ordinances and other key regulations is preferred;
  • Experience or knowledge in trade based money laundering is an advantage;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to communicate with internal process owners effectively;
  • Able to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines;
  • Logical working style and high attention to detail; and
  • Strong team work and communication skills, good written English is essential.
